Advocacy at House of Commons: Urgent Action for Rohingya Women & Girls

In a groundbreaking event held at the House of Commons, Palace of Westminster Parliament, Janala UK organised an event in association with CFBS to shed light on the pressing issue of ensuring protection and a safe return for Rohingya women and girls. The event, which took place on November 8, 2023, brought together esteemed panellists and advocates dedicated to advocating for the rights of Rohingya women and girls.

The distinguished panelists included Dr Rupa Haque MP, Tom Hunt MP, Karin Veltersson from Burma Campaign UK, Dr Zaki Rezwana Anwar FRSA, a renowned human rights activist, and Senior Media Personality, and Prof Shery Delfani, a respected UN Senior Member.

The experts shared their insights, experiences, and recommendations during the event, aiming to create awareness and drive meaningful change in the plight of Rohingya women and girls. The audience also participated actively by sharing their experience in working in the Rohingya camps, sharing their ideas on how to improve the situation etc.

The Rohingya crisis, a longstanding humanitarian issue, has disproportionately affected women and girls, subjecting them to various forms of violence, exploitation, and displacement.

The event highlighted the urgent need to address these challenges, focusing on providing safe spaces, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for Rohingya women and girls.

The panelists emphasized the significance of international collaboration, policy advocacy, and grassroots efforts in ensuring the protection and safe return of this vulnerable community.

The focus of the event was to remind the international community that the Rohingya Issue isn't resolved instead the situation has worsen, specially for women and girls and this needs to be discussed and addressed at all levels until they return with dignity and safety.
